New Spa Directions: printer friendly version, click here...

1- Flush garden hose with 1/2 teaspoon of chlorine granules, this is done by shutting off nozzle end of hose, put chlorine in faucet end of hose and let sit for 5-minutes, then flush.  Water-Mold, Bacteria, Etc., have collected in hose and will contaminate the spa water.

2- Filling spa with a garden hose Pre-filter is HIGHLY recommended.

3- Add 1/2 ounce Spa Chlorine Granules (99% Sodium Dichlor) to water for up to 500 gallons.

4- After temperature reaches 90 degrees or above, add one bottle of all natural Water Treatment & Conditioner
(1/2 bottle for spas up to 250 gallons, and one full bottle for spas up to 500 gallons).

5- Run pumps on high with all jets open for 5-minutes and enjoy. Check your water with a reliable test strip the next day, and only adjust if necessary.

6- Add recommended amount every 3-months.

Note...  New spas are water tested at the factory and some still have this old water left in the lines.
'Shocking' the water with 1-oz of Spa Chlorine Granules (99% Sodium Dichlor) the first day is recommended to resolve this issue.
Important:
Always leave all jets including neck jets, waterfalls, etc.. open slightly when spa is not in use, this allows our enzymes to circulate fully within the spa.  Shocking once a week is recommended.

Older Spa Conversion Directions: printer friendly version, click here...

This conversion takes 5-days.  This product works well in removing past chemical build-up in spas equipment and lines.
This water will have a higher concentrate of chemicals used in the past and THE SPA SHOULD NOT BE USED DURING THIS TIME.  Please read instructions completely before starting.  This 5-day process is designed to clean away contaminants already present deep within spa plumbing, fittings and equipment.  You may use the Penetrating Spa Cleanser in your existing water, regardless of how old the water is or what chemicals have been used in the past.  This is a good time to fully inspect your cover for any tears, which will allow contaminated water to drip back into your spa water.  If your cover has any rips or tears we would highly recommend purchasing a new one.  Also a cover lift is a good way to preserve your cover and make your spa experience more enjoyable.

1- Remove filter(s) and leave out during this 5-day cleansing cycle.

2- Add 1-full bottle of Penetrating Spa Cleanser into existing water, be sure all jets are open.  2-bottles are recommended if spa is over 5-years old.

3- Maintain temperature at 90 degrees or higher and run filtration for a minimum of 6-8 hours per day.

4- After five days turn off breaker and drain.

5- Clean under headrests and bottom of cover with a small amount of Filter-Soak or the Penetrating Spa Cleanser
(1-capful to 1-cup of warm water).

6- 'Back Flush' by shutting off spa drain, put garden hose into the filter area, and fill until bottom area of spa is full.
Rinse thoroughly and drain this water out.

7- Put clean or new filter(s) back in, turn breaker on, and refill your spa using a garden hose Pre-filter.

8- Add 1-oz for spas up to 500 gallons / 1/2-oz for spas up to 250 gallons of Spa Chlorine Granules (99% Sodium Dichlor).

9- After temperature reaches 90 degrees or above, add the all natural Water Treatment & Conditioner
(1/2 bottle for spas up to 250 gallons, and one full bottle for spas up to 500 gallons).

10- Run pumps on high with all jets open for 5-minutes and enjoy. Check your water with a reliable test strip the next day, and only adjust if necessary.

11- Add recommended amount of the Water Treatment & Conditioner every 3-months.

Helpful Tips: printer friendly version, click here...

Garden Hose Pre-filter
~ Highly recommended and makes initial balancing easier and future issues are greatly reduced.
Greatly increase Optimum Filter Life (OFL) of your main filter(s).

Filters

~ Deep clean every 1-2 months using the Filter-Soak following directions on bottle.  Rinse filter(s) weekly or as needed.

Ozonators
~ Compatible with the all natural Water Treatment & Conditioner

Cup-Holders

~ Sweep these areas out as water will turn cool and may produce a slight odor.

Bathing Suits

~ Wash in hot water with no soap and double rinse to remove dyes and any soap residues.

Neck Jets

~ All jets including neck jets, waterfalls, etc.. should remain open slightly so water may flow freely during filtration cycle.

Spa Covers
~ Spa covers and headrests should be cleaned if any odors
are present.

*If you have drained your spa and expect to leave it drained for an extended period of time, you may want to 'shock' the water with chlorine when you refill.
WHY?  Bacteria, Water-Mold and Algae can grow in your spa lines during shut down, and this 'shocking' should eliminate any contamination.  1/2-oz for spas up to 250 gallons / 1-oz for spas up to 500 gallons.

Spa Recommendations:

Water temperature range - 90 degrees or higher

pH level - 7.8 - 8.2   ~   alkalinity - 80 - 120
~ Our Water Treatment & Conditioner helps stabilize at these levels.
~ See Hamilton Index for more information on proper hot tub water balance.

Total Hardness - 200 - 400ppm
~ If hard water, use a Stain & Scale control or Metal Out product.
~ If low calcium hardness (under 200), use a Calcium Increaser.

Filtration System - Minimum 6-8 hours per day.  24-7 filtration is recommended if capable.

If your source water is hard water and you have not used a pre-filter, then the recommended amount of a Stain & Scale control should be used weekly, following directions on bottle.  Also a Metal Out product may be used when filling spa.

Basic Troubleshooting: printer friendly version, click here...

Heavy Use - Should you have more than the average number of people in your spa, or ever get a slight organic odor, your spa water may need to be 'shocked'.  To be more Environmental we suggest Spa Chlorine Granules (99% Sodium Dichlor), because this particular type of chlorine dissipates out of your spa water, when you run all pumps on high with the cover open for 30-45 minutes (be sure all jets are open).  Before draining, and to be more Environmentally friendly, test your water to ensure that all chlorine has dissipated.
This Water Treatment & Conditioner is also compatible with non-chlorine shocks, however not recommended because it contains up to 7 other chemicals that do not dissipate out of the spa water.

Cloudy Water - Color and clarity of your spa water can best be evaluated using a clear drinking glass.  Water may become cloudy from soap residues or dyes in bathing suits.  Cosmetics, Lotions, Deodorants, Body Oils and some fragrances also may cause cloudy water.  Also check your pH, alkalinity levels, calcium hardness and adjust only if necessary.
~ Make sure filter(s) are clean and the filtration system is filtering at least 8-hours per day (if possible).
~ If water is hazy you may add 1-2 ounces of all natural clarifier to speed up recovery time.
~ You may also 'shock' the water using a 1/2 ounce of Spa Chlorine Granules (99% Sodium Dichlor).  Leave spa cover open, run all pumps on high for 30-45 minutes with all jets open, then rinse your filter(s) again.  Repeat if necessary.

Green Tinted Water - This rare condition could be from bathing suits (black, blue or green colored suits) or blue spa filters.  If none of these apply have your water tested for copper, and use a metal out product sold at your local spa store.  Be sure to use a garden hose Pre-filter when filling spa next time which will reduce or eliminate this problem.

To Prevent Scaling - If necessary, to prevent Stain & Scale add recommended amount of a Stain & Scale control weekly.

Foam - Soft water under 200ppm will cause foaming.  Have your water tested, a calcium increaser may be needed to solve this issue.  Excessive foaming however, is almost always a result of soap residue left in bathing suits.  Just remove with a skimmer net and rinse your filter(s).  You may have to do this twice because of the foam in the lines in your spa.  Very small amounts of 'dirty foam' at times may appear, this is simply the Water Treatment & Conditioner taking contaminants to your filter(s), which is what it is designed to do.  Double rinse bathing suits in hot water to remove dyes, soap and phosphates found in soap.  A soap-less shower is recommended before entering your spa.

For High or Low pH / Alkalinity - Wait 24-hours before checking pH & Alkalinity, and only adjust if necessary.  Usually our product will keep these balanced in the proper range.  Use Spa Up or Spa Down and check again within 24-hours.

Organic Odor - Shocking weekly should eliminate this, however if you do have an organic odor be sure all jets including neck, waterfalls, etc.. are open slightly when spa is not in use.  Usually a teaspoon or two of dichlor, depending on size of spa should remedy this quickly.

These chemical guidelines are to help maintain proper water chemistry in your spa. Please keep in mind that all spa water is different based upon water source and frequency of use. If you are not using a Pre-filter have your water tested by your local dealer to determine what, if any, additional chemicals are needed.  For residential use only.  Use as directed. The purchaser assumes all liability and responsibility while using this product.  Do not take internally.  Keep out of reach of children.  Use in conjunction with an EPA registered chlorine. Spa Chlorine Granules (99% Sodium Dichlor) is highly recommended.
